Dr. Cheng Wang is a professor at the Department of Computer Science, School of Information Science and Technology (SISE) , Xiamen University, China. Currently, he serves as the Vice Dean of SISE, and as the Deputy Director of Fujian Key Lab on Sensing and Computing for Smart City. Dr. Wang received the Ph.D. degree (2002) in Information and Communication Engineering from the National University of Defense Technology, China.
Dr. Wang has more than 20 year experiment on computer vision R&D for remote sensing and mapping. His research interests include 3D point cloud and remote sensing image analysis, video enhancement, information fusion and mobile mapping data processing. He published over 100 papers in academic journals and conferences, received 2 international paper awards, and was awarded the provincial First and Second Prize of Science and Technology Progress, separately, the First Prize of Science and Technology Progress of CECT, and the Outstanding Person Prize by major project in 863 National High-tech R&D Program. He was selected in the program of New-Century Excellent Talents in Universities of Fujian Province.
Dr. Wang was the PI or Co-PI of over 20 research projects and successfully led the design of many advanced computer vision systems for remote sensing and mapping, such as the commercialized ARVEE for automatic road vector extraction.
Dr. Wang is also the Co-Chair of the Working Group I/3 “multi-platform multi-sensor system calibration” (2008-2012, 2012-2016) in the International Society of Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing (ISPRS), Senior Member of IEEE, the council member of the Chinese Society of Image and Graphics (CSIG). He organized many national and international conferences, such as the International Conference of Computer Vision on Remote Sensing.
